About Timothy Leonard

An educator for more than two decades, Timothy Leonard has experience teaching in K-12 and higher education settings throughout CT and NY. Currently, he serves as an assistant professor of academic literacy and linguistics at the Borough of Manhattan Community College in New York City. Timothy Leonard is a full-time member of the faculty and teaches courses including Academic and Critical Reading and Introduction to Critical Thinking.

Dr. Leonard previously served as an adjunct instructor of education at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, CT, where he was involved in the Connecticut Literacy Specialist Program. A former English teacher and instructional designer at Middlebrook School in Wilton, CT, he also served as the assistant principal for curriculum and instruction at Somers Middle School in Westchester County, NY.

From Sacred Heart University, Dr. Leonard holds a BS in English and education, an MA in teaching, and a CAS in administration and supervision. He received an EdD in instructional leadership from Western Connecticut State University. Beyond serving as an educator, he is the founder of ConnArtists Concerts and a consultant for Woodbury Brewing Company. He has also been published in the International Journal of Innovative Teaching and Learning in Higher Education and the Journal of Education and Social Development.
